We are welcoming not only another summer month, but another Athlete of the Month. Coming in hot just like August did, we would like to congratulate…. Jason Wilkinson 💥😎💥
Jason has been with us for 4 years and has made a positive change to his mental health along with his physical health. 💛 How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start?
⭐ 4 years ago I decided to just make a bunch of positive life changes during a week off of work. Walking into Tides and joining was one of them.
💛 What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
⭐ I still remember it, I felt accomplishment but I was glad it was over. I felt like I didn’t have enough blood in my body.
💛 What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?
⭐ Most: Double Unders, Deadlift, Bike/Run. Least: Thrusters
💛 What have you learned since joining Tides?
⭐I suck at thrusters….and…. a lot about mental resilience, nutrition, general health and wellness.
💛 What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?
⭐ Through participating in some of the gym programs, I’ve eaten 800g of fruits and veggies for two months, taken up meditation and participated in a crossfit open.
💛 What motivates you during a tough workout?
⭐Fear of being last 😉 but, usually my brain stops recording and I just focus on finishing.
💛 How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides?
⭐ It’s been 4 years and I’m definitely stronger and more fit than I was prior. I tend to think more about what I would be like now (in my 40’s) if I had never joined. Scary.
💛 What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
⭐ Very positive. I have better life habits in general and a much more positive and confident outlook on life. I’m setting a better example for my kids as they know I’m headed to the gym most mornings.
💛 Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Tides?
⭐ Go at your own pace and focus on form and recovery. You do what you can do and that is the most important.
💛 When you’re not working out, what is your favorite thing to do?
⭐ Hang out with the family, or tour our Michigan breweries.
