Who or What Keeps You Accountable?
Many say that working out is 90% mental and showing up is half the battle. It is extremely important that you are putting your mind over matter. I myself find it hard to get to the gym. I’m either making excuses on why I can’t make it or I simply won’t even make the time for it. Once I started CrossFit I noticed a huge change in my mentality. I noticed I was excited to get to the gym and get my workout in!
CrossFit classes are very different from your normal gym routine. All you have to do is show up and put the work in. I like that there is little thinking going on and you already have a set workout. Also being held accountable to a certain class time is extremely important because once you start showing up regularly with the same group people, they expect you to be there. I find it easier to workout with a group of people anyhow. I notice I’m pushing myself way harder than I would if I was by myself, but to each their own.
Your workout should be stress free and where you can mentaly escape from the real world. This is the time where it’s just you working on yourself. In order to make sure you get that workout in you need to be held accountable. Whether this is you holding yourself accountable or a coach, as long as you get it in! Once you find yourself that accountability then you’ll be on the right track to success.
Accountability comes in many different forms. This could be showing up to a group class, using My Fitness Pal to track your progress, or simply having a gym buddy. Either way they all are great ways to see yourself succeed in staying true to your exercise plan. Whatever way works for you then stick with it!
