Fernando has been with us since fall of 2020 and we couldn’t be more proud of his progress. He has gained new skills, strength, and motivation. Fernando has lost over 15 lbs and is always so positive even when the workout is going to be tough. He takes the challenges he faces and crushes it! 🌼 How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start?
☘ I think I started back in October. During the pandemic I stopped doing team sports, which is usually what keeps me moving, and my wife Gabi finally convinced me to join!
🌼 When did you realize this gym was right for you?
☘ Probably during my first month already… everyone is so kind, patient and always cheerful
🌼 What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
☘ It felt tough, but coach Karie was always super awesome to me and knew exactly how to scale my WODs so I would be alive for the next class 😁
🌼 What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?
☘ I really like the rig movements. I got a long way to go but my evolution there is great so far.
I’m not the biggest fan of burpees and the bike (to be fair, who is 🤔😅)
🌼 What have you learned since joining Tides?
☘ The classic “I felt pain on muscles I didn’t even know they existed”. I also learned to listen to my body and pace myself better during the workouts.
🌼 What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?
☘ As of now, my first double unders! Next on the list is toes to bar .
🌼 What motivates you during a tough workout?
☘ “It will be over soon and you’ll feel great, just focus and do your best”. That’s what I keep telling myself.
🌼 How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides? What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
☘ I’m trying to get into a better sleep schedule. I’m paying more attention to what I eat as well. So far I’m down 15lbs and 7-9% body fat (don’t remember the exact number)
🌼 Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Tides?
☘ It will get better 🙂 There are awesome professionals at Tides ready to help you get through the workouts and develop yourself.
🌼 When you’re not working out, what is your favorite thing to do?
☘ Hang out with Gabi and Farofa (our dog), play soccer, volleyball and grilling/smoking. Also some video games 🎮
🌼 Anything else you’d like to share (can be anything, exciting news, job, projects, etc.)?
☘ WE’RE HAVING A BABY!! Due for September, and we’re soooo excited about it! We’ll soon learn if it’s a boy or a girl. 👶
