Please read below to learn more about Tamara.
️ Hi Tamara, congrats again! Tell us about yourself.
I’m a mom of 2 energetic boys (2 and 6), an engineer and I love food, travel and adventuring outdoors. My picture sums up my love for travel. Traveling in Switzerland, in the mountains, on a bike, having the thrill and adventure of riding through cow fields and villages.
️ How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start?
I joined around February 2019. I had been wanting to join for several years but I finally felt it was time when my youngest was a little over a year and I could be away from him longer.
️ When did you realize this gym was right for you?
Before I joined
I had the opportunity to join some special sessions they put on for the whirlpool cycling club as well as through a friends business.
️What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
I felt amazing. I felt mix of being tired but energetic, but most importantly I felt accomplished that I challenged myself.
️ What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?
It took me a while to get any lift with a snatch grip. Through coaching and feedback I finally figured it out but still have improvements to make.
️ What have you learned since joining Tides?
More about the balance of nutrition with fitness. I’ve always tried to eat healthy, but I learned how specific foods affected my energy and how I feel and more importantly how the balance of fats, carbs and protein could change my body composition when combined with working out.
️ What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?
I can now confidently climb a rope. I’m also proud to lift barbells; I used to see barbells as masculine but I am happy to say that’s very far from the truth I see now.
️ What motivates you during a tough workout?
Being around other people doing the same thing as me.
️ How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides? What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
Physically I have little to no discomforts. After having 2 babies my body felt weak and also sore from even sleeping in bed. I feel like I’m put back together now. Mentally my time working out at tides helps me work off any stress from work and life.
