Vic is a lunchtime class staple. He not only kicks some butt kicking his own butt, he loves to help out newer members and keeps the energy flowing in class. He has been with us for 3 years and has kept improving his overall strength as well as his knowledge of the Crossfit methodology.

How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start?
🎆 I have been with CFT since summer of 2018. I joined right after my retirement from Whirlpool to add some structure into my daily routine.
💛 When did you realize this gym was right for you?
🎆 The Whirlpool Cycling Club had checked out most of the gyms in the area and I knew CFT was the best fit for me due to the very structured workouts.
💛 What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
🎆 I can’t really remember it well, but I probably over did it 😅
💛 What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?
🎆 My favorite movements are also my least favorites – burpees and thrusters. I like them because they are such complex movements and complete work outs, but they are hard!
💛 What have you learned since joining Tides?
🎆 I have to be very aware of scaling my movements and to just do me.
💛 What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?
🎆 Not sure I have one single moment as there are so many good ones (like every time I finish a WOD 😅).
💛 What motivates you during a tough workout?
🎆 The coaches, athletes, music, and the workouts are broken into small, bite size chunks that I take one at a time. Seems like I can always do just one more!
💛 How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides?
🎆 Mentally the same, physically better core strength and balance.
💛 What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
🎆 CFT has given me another community that I really enjoy being with.
💛 Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Tides?
🎆 Start small and slow, take it one day at a time, and when you look back you will be shocked with your progress.
💛 When you’re not working out, what is your favorite thing to do?
🎆 Biking, boating, hanging at the beach, making and eating BBQ, drinking good bourbons, fishing, hunting.
💛 Anything else you’d like to share?
🎆 I am a lifelong learner and love to read about history (world, military, industrial, universe, and so on) and also love to read about social/behavioral science (why people do what they do).
