How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start?
️ I’ve been with Tides since 2013. My night shift parter,Tim Gean, told me about this gym and the awesome owners. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of Tides and it was different from any gym I’ve ever been too before. Loved it ever since.
When did you realize this gym was right for you?
️ Tim Gean and I got into a foot chase on I-94 one night and as we were jumping over a cable barrier and in a full on sprint running next to each other, I looked at him and said this was a super easy WOD. He laughed, I laughed, and we caught the guy shortly after.
What were your thoughts after your first WOD?
️ It was a “Barbell For Boobs” event. As I was doing the workout I thought it was fun and different from any other training I’ve done before. I may or may not have thrown up after. Good times.
What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?
️ Love Squats, deadlifts, and power cleans. Hate rope climbs and double unders. My favorite WOD is Fight Gone Bad.
What have you learned since joining Tides?
️ I’ve leaned how hard I can push myself through some of the more difficult workouts and how to properly stretch out to prevent injuries.
What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?
️ Change my eating habits due to the Macro Challenge. All it took was one month.
What motivates you during a tough workout?
️ Trying to reach a new personal goal during the Wod of a higher weight or faster time.
How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides? What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?
️ This past month I’ve dedicated everything I’ve had into my workouts, diet, and running program. A canine position opened up within my department and I had put myself into a unfavorable position to get it. I invested into having a trainer design different running workouts for me and into the Lazy Macros Challenge. I knew this was the motivation I needed to get my life back. In one month, I’ve dropped almost 4 inches on my waist, lost over 15lbs, and I can run a consistent 4 miles. I owe everything to Emily, Brian, Callie, and friends I have at the gym for all the help and support. I still have a long way to go, but the progress is absolutely unbelievable. I highly recommend any nutrition program or personal trainer the gym has to offer.
Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Tides?
️ Stick with it. I had a hard time keeping up with consistency due to work. I’d even make excuses in my head for why I was unable to workout that day. I challenged myself to workout 7 days a week. Once you start to see progress, it’ll motivate you even more.
When you’re not working out, what is your favorite thing to do?
️ Playing golf and ice hockey. I also like going to the beach, hiking, and watching football.
Would you rather have to wear a leprechaun costume everyday for a week during your workouts at Tides, or every time you enter the gym, have to do a little Irish gig in the doorway and loudly say, “Top o’ the mornin’ to you!” for a week?
️ I’d wear the leprechaun suit!
