October 2021 Athlete of the Month

As we welcome the leaves changing and the crisper mornings, we can also welcome our new member to the Athlete of the Month club ๐Ÿ’ฅPeter Merrick๐Ÿ’ฅ 

Peter has put in some hard work since his return and has made tons of progress. Just a few things to name off are his first rope (and more later that wod), first set of double unders, and recently his first toes-to-bar. Oh and wall walks! Oh, did we mention he also takes boxing classes a few days a week with Coach Clare at Boxing House International located right inside Tides!! We are eager to see what else we can add to the list for him.

๐Ÿ How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start? 

๐ŸŽJoined Jan 2020 and took some time off due to COVID. Joined back up this year because I needed to get moving again. 

๐Ÿ When did you realize this gym was right for you? 

๐ŸŽ Karie is a great coach that always makes me feel like I am doing enough to push myself but not too much to hurt myself.

๐Ÿ What were your thoughts after your first WOD? 

๐ŸŽ I am out of shape 

๐Ÿ What is your favorite/least favorite WOD/movements?  

๐ŸŽ Favorite-rower Least Favorite-bike 

๐Ÿ What have you learned since joining Tides?   

๐ŸŽ I am not good at standing on my heels 

๐Ÿ What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do?  

๐ŸŽ Rope Climb 

๐Ÿ What motivates you during a tough workout? 

๐ŸŽ I took the time to wake up at 5:30, I’m not gonna waste that. 

๐Ÿ How have you seen yourself change- mentally and physically since joining Tides? What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym?  

๐ŸŽ I just feel healthier #longevity
