September may mean the end of summer but that doesnβt mean our Athlete of The Month will stop moving. Letβs give it up for Marie Maloney!! She needed a change and never knew what to do when going to the gym on her own. Marie was inspired by her daughter to try out Crossfit so she did and now LOVES IT!! She has improved her coordination and strength as well as her mental health. She knows exercise is important for the body but never knew how much it affected her mentality until she began taking classes 3 days a week. Marie feels great inside and out, has made lots of new friends, and sees that Crossfit really is for EVERYONE. Anything and everything can be modified to what you can do and Marie really appreciates that. She has a lot of trust in our coaches and appreciates all the encouragement and love from our community. Now letβs get to know Marie a bit more below. I was born in New Jersey and met my husband in college. We got married and moved to Michigan for his job. I am also a retired English teacher and took dance lessons for 20 years. β How long have you been with Tides and what made you decide to start? π 5 months because I felt that I needed another gym. The YMCA was okay, but after several years, I still did not know much about how to use weights. β When did you realize this gym was right for you? πThe people I met and how much I have learned about using weights. β What have you learned since joining Tides? π How much I have learned about using weights, getting stronger, and moving my own body safely. β What is your proudest moment at Tides, or something you accomplished that you never thought you would do? π Just surviving a tough 30 minute workout! β What motivates you during a tough workout? π Being in a group of members: there’s a comradery that spreads amongst the members that’s sweet and genuine and it helps me hang in there. β How have you seen yourself change both mentally and physically since joining Tides? What impact has CFT had on you in and out of the gym? π I do feel stronger, but I also know that I still have a lot to learn. β Do you have any advice for people just getting started at Tides and/or thinking about personal training? π The exercises will convince you to become a member, but the people will keep you showing up to train every week. β When you’re not working out, what is your favorite thing to do? π Art work, gardening, reading, and going to the beach. π₯π₯π₯ Quick Questions Favorite Cheat Meal: Chocolate Milk Shake Favorite Musician/Band: Creedence Clearwater Revival a.k.a.
